Mother kicks entitled family out for gatecrashing her son's private birthday party and stealing food: 'That doesn't matter, my children want some food'

Remember that time when you were a kid and your parents took you to Bouncy Land to gate-crash on another kid's birthday? Me neither, but that is certainly something that is going to come up in therapy for some young adult 20 years from now.

Perhaps this experience isn't entirely universal and is coming from a place of privilege, but I feel that most of us had the understanding as kids, at least at some point, that our parents and the other adults in our lives were benevolent beings who had our best interests at heart. No matter how imperfect we might have realized they were as we grew up, I think a lot of us can thank our parents for the fact that they were at least trying to do the right thing. 

But I can very vividly remember the first time I realized that a teacher just didn't like me for some reason. I definitely could be a bit talkative in class, sure, but I had other great qualities as a student. But realizing that, for whatever reason, this teacher just really didn't care for me on a fundamental level was a formative moment for me in a world that had, until that point, had my best interests at heart. 

I'd have to imagine that realizing your own parents are selfish and entitled must feel like something along these lines. Without a doubt, these parents were in the wrong, both for gatecrashing another kid's birthday party in what was a private event and for putting their own kids in a situation that they are going to remember for years as the time mom and dad took us to another kid's birthday.
